Delete my account and my data
Deleting your account is forever. If you only want to stop using it for a while, “Sign out” deletes nothing. And if you have no account, your data is only on your devices: it is deleted when you delete the library or remove the app from the phone.
There are two ways. With the first, it is deleted at once; with the second, within up to 30 days.
From the app: deleted at once
Section titled “From the app: deleted at once”- Open the menu and go to “Settings”. Tap your name, under “Cloud and account”.
- At the bottom, tap “Delete account”.
- To confirm it is you, type your password. If you sign in with Google and have no password, a code is sent to your email. If you have turned on the “Second factor” (the extra check when you sign in), type its code too.
The app warns you that it will be deleted forever and that the account will be closed on your devices, and as soon as you confirm, it is deleted.
If you cannot open the app: up to 30 days
Section titled “If you cannot open the app: up to 30 days”If you no longer have the phone or cannot get into the app, write to privacy@kosmotheka.com with the subject “Delete my Kosmotheka account”, from the account’s email address, so we know it is yours. Doing it by hand is not instant: we delete it within a maximum of 30 days and let you know when it is done.
The same steps are on the website, at kosmotheka.com/en/delete-account.html, which you can open without the app.
What is deleted
Section titled “What is deleted”- Your account: the email, the name, the password and the second factor.
- The list of your devices connected to the account: they stop having it open.
- The libraries you uploaded to the cloud that only you used.
What stays
Section titled “What stays”- Libraries you share with other people stay in the cloud for them. If you uploaded them, they pass to another person who has an account and access: the app first picks someone who already administers that library and, if there is nobody, anyone who has access. What you noted in them (for example, your readings) is part of the library and stays there.
- A technical log of what was done on the service (what, when and from which internet connection, without the books). It is kept for one year and then deleted automatically, without your email. It is there to keep the service secure.
- What you have on your devices is not touched. Your libraries stay on your phone and the app works without an account.
And if I want to delete everything
Section titled “And if I want to delete everything”Deleting the account does not delete what is on your devices. For that:
- One library: inside the library, open the menu, go to “Library settings” and tap “Delete library”. It is deleted on all the devices you share it with and cannot be undone. The app offers to save a backup first.
- Everything on the phone: open “Settings” and tap “Reset this device”. This deletes everything on that phone (Remove a person or a device).
- The backups you made are where you saved them: delete them yourself.
